Dreams take steps and many of those steps require human connections. A crucial part of what’s propelled me to where I am today has been meeting key people, either at events or through mutual friends, who have provided me with different perspectives, valuable introductions and resources, and new visions.
In today's world, however, there are so many events vying for our attention, it can seem impossible to sort through them all to find the ones that are worth our time and energy. With as much responsibility as we have — for our families, homes, projects and businesses — we often don’t put ourselves in enough positions and places to gain the relationships that can propel us into a new, game-changing direction.
That’s a shame. Because these meetings seed new opportunities that then seed new relationships and it continues. If you put yourselves out there with a positive attitude, an open mind and a sense of curiosity, I guarantee you will reap the rewards.
This is one of the reasons why I created the S.H.E. Summit, the global women’s leadership and lifestyle conference. I saw it as an opportunity for women to create the space and time to gain inspiration, connect with like-minded women who share similar values, and, most importantly, cultivate personal and professional relationships so that they can expand their possibilities.
To help you get the most out of conferences and networking, here are some of my best practices and tips.
