Opportunity Knocks When holiday hopes are high, but cash is tight, a seasonal job can be a real gift. But how do you find the best job, for top pay?
  • Rev up. Try Indeed, the world’s biggest job engine—search “seasonal” plus your city to narrow the focus. And check out Snag A Job for a comprehensive list of local hourly jobs. Got little extra time? Try the “gigs” section of Craigslist to sign on as a staffer at one- or two-day events.

  • Go to the source. Retailers are adding some 600,000 holiday jobs this year. Some of the biggest names—like Macy’s, Best Buy, Target and Toys ’R Us—even have their own job sites. The same is true of some non-retail giants like UPS. The sites are free and will show you listings in your area.

  • Temp yourself. Office temp jobs can offer great pay, if you have a flexible schedule. Try national temp agencies like Snelling and Kelly, or check out the National Association of Personnel Services to find reliable local agencies who are hiring this time of year.
