Dan Macklin

Entrepreneur and co-founder of SoFi, specializes in student loan refinancing

sofi.com

Dan Macklin is one of the founding members of SoFi, a marketplace lender that offers student loan refinancing, personal loans and mortgages. He is a thought leader whose perspectives on education debt and personal finance have been featured in a variety of media outlets including CNBC, ABC, Fox Business and Fast Company, as well as his personal favorite, Italian Vogue!

For the first time in history, accomplished graduates are unable to attain many of life’s milestones — like starting a company, buying a car, or purchasing a home — because of their massive student debt burden. Dan and his co-founders, who met while studying at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, agreed that there must be a better way to connect people who need money with people who have money.

SoFi blazed a trail to enable individuals and institutions to invest directly in students and graduates. Today, SoFi has issued more than $700 million in loans and has over 8000 members. On average, graduates who refinance with SoFi save $9,400 over the life of their loan.

Dan heads up SoFi’s Business Development team, raising awareness of SoFi and helping more graduates save money. Prior to SoFi, Dan spent twelve years at Standard Chartered Bank leading Enterprise Sales and Product Development across London, Singapore and Shanghai. Born and raised in the UK, Dan holds a BA in Business Economics from University of Durham in England and has a graduate degree in Management from Stanford Graduate School of Business where he was a Sloan Fellow.

Dan is a thought leader whose perspectives on student loan refinancing have been featured in a variety of media outlets including CNBC, Fast Company and Mashable, as well as his personal favorite, Italian Vogue!
