3 Ways to Ease Travel Stress

Sleeping in Terminal

Whenever you travel, especially around the holidays, keep a few stress relievers up your sleeve:

    • Emergency exits. When a family visit goes sour, or a canceled flight leaves you stranded, take heart. Smartphone app HotelTonight offers rooms at up to 70% discounts at hotels in 28 cities—on the spot.

    • Plan to pamper. Instead of whizzing past those airport salons, build some down time into your itinerary to enjoy the spa services available at the terminal, says traveler and AssetClass reader Angela Betancourt.

    • Buy to the front of the line. Few things can fry your nerves faster than waiting in line while sightseeing (add cranky kids and you’ll wish you’d stayed home). Now, many amusement parks and museums, here and abroad, offer special passes that let you cut to the front, or put you in an express line.

    • Legoland in Carlsbad, CA, for example, offers a $150 adult “premium play pass” ticket (about $55 more than a regular ticket) that allows you to enter rides using the exit. Sweet.
