3 Effortless Fall Looks for Work

I love clothes as much as the next woman, but I’ve never paid much attention to the big fashion shows, preferring to let top styles filter down to stores where I shop.

So when a recent blogging assignment landed me a seat at New York Fashion Week, I was pleasantly surprised to be turned on to a myriad of higher-end, but not haute designers.

The fashion world calls them Ready-to-Wear. I call them Ready-to-Buy. For the professional woman who wants to give her look an extra edge, these designers are worth it:

Steven Alan Shirtdress

Steven Alan: Effortlessly chic. A mix of casual and office-friendly looks. Versatile shirt dresses cost about $198. www.stevenalan.com.

C & T Floral Dress

Costello Tagliapietra: Soft, feminine dresses and jumpsuits that really will take you from day to night, from $298. Available at www.barneys.com.

Tibi Peplum Top and Pants

Tibi: Designer Amy Smilovic offers up a little bit of everything—sexiness, sportiness and edginess—in her easy-to-wear casual chic line. Dresses start at $300 www.tibi.com.

Power Point
By checking out collections online (I like style.com), you can be a better-educated fashionista—and decide for yourself which looks are worth having.

Strut your stuff. What’s your power look right now?
