For those of you who don’t yet know me, please allow me to introduce myself: I’m Amanda Steinberg, the founder of DailyWorth and editor of CreateWorth. Long before I became interested in personal finance and launched DailyWorth in 2009, I was an entrepreneur. I launched my first business in college in 1999, and have been empire-building through startups ever since.
What qualifies me to help you grow your business? Back in 2008 I took my former company Soapbxx, a Web engineering business, from $300,000 to $600,000 in one year. The business was four years old. We had an established brand and four talented employees, but in spite of my most grandiose attempts to increase revenue from 2006 to 2007, we simply remained flat. Then from 2007 to 2008, we doubled in size.
How did I do it?
Since its founding, Soapbxx focused on building online fundraising platforms for non-profit organizations. But the space had gotten pretty competitive with growth of similar agencies like Jackson River and Big Duck. So, I decided to reinvent our brand to serve wider corporate markets, not just non-profits. Rebranding my firm didn’t mean I had to give up major contracts like the NRDC or Harlem Children Zone. It did, however, allow me to sell an engineering contract to a pharmaceutical company that earned us in one week what we were used to earning in three months.
