As a senior designer for the health and wellness social media platform Sharecare, Katie Levitt Greene has an eye for aesthetics. She stocks her closet with versatile, flattering basics that pop when paired with embellished boots, standout jewelry, patterned scarves, and designer investment pieces. Her style is laid-back but focused—and she’s not afraid to budget for the irresistible stuff.
What’s your daytime work style?
I’m a strong advocate of the idea that what you wear sets the tone for how you feel all day. I like to approach my day with a mind that is clear, productive, and creative. My work environment is smart casual, which is great for me since I spend much of my day sitting at a computer designing graphics. However, I collaborate a lot, so I like to be presentable—my style tends to be comfortable yet polished.
Most importantly, my style reflects my personality. I’m all about color, contrasts, and being mindful of subtle details—from a bit of texture or embellishment in a pair of boots to a sleek blouse with distressed jeans or a color block outfit with a bold accessory. In the cooler months I almost always wear a scarf: It pulls together an easy outfit and keeps me cozy.
How do you take your look from office to evening?
It’s all in the shoes! A comfy but stylish pair of wedges or booties and a pair of skinny burgundy jeans can go a long way. I’m a huge fan of Zara pants; Anthropologie tops; and shoes from Campers and Corso Como, with the occasional Stuart Weitzman splurge.
Statement jewelry also does the trick. I love layered vintage pendants or long gold-tone earrings. They go a long way in transforming a daytime outfit.
What’s your weekend style?
I live in Atlanta, so seasonal wardrobe transitions are easy—it’s warm well into October. I do a lot of outdoor activities on the weekends, so if I’m spending much of my day outside with my dog, working out, and running errands, I put on a pulled-together outfit of athletic clothing.
When it’s warm I like to wear shorts from Urban Outfitters with a blousy top or tank, or an easy, flowy dress from a local boutique. In fall and winter I lean toward skinny dark jeans, basic tops layered under open-front cardigans, and flat boots. And I always swap my bulkier workweek bag for my blue Marc Jacobs messenger bag.
What’s your best piece of personal style advice?
My approach to style is similar to that of many areas of life: Buy only what you absolutely love. It may sound trite, but it’s the truth! I’m a pretty budget-friendly shopper, so whatever I pick out has to be good quality and fit my style and my spending plan. When you really love a piece, you experiment with ways to wear it and it becomes a wardrobe staple for years.

1. The Classic Tote
Katie uses a messenger bag on the weekends—but this classic leather tote is an easy upgrade. The soft cowhide and gold zippers add just the right amount of chic to a casual look.
Massimo Dutti leather tote, $275, available at massimodutti.com.
2. The Black Booties
I love the gold buckle detail on these booties. Katie is the type of woman who pays attention to detail, and I appreciate that. Who wants ordinary boots when you can step out in these?
Vince Camuto booties, $129, available at vincecamuto.com.
3. The Hoops
Gold prices are sky-high, but there’s a great alternative to 14K: Brass. It’s making its way back in a big way. These small dagger hoops are a subtle but playful twist on the standard round ones you’ve seen the Kardashians wearing.
Lila Rice hoops, $70, available at stevenalan.com.
4. The Cozy Scarf
Scarves are a great way to incorporate color into an outfit, and this refined silk-cashmere blend keeps you warm in the winter months.
J.Crew Brilliant Flame scarf, $75, available at jcrew.com.
5. The Waxed Skinny Jean
Show up your stack of standard-issue skinnies with this pair. The waxed effect is a cool detail that is surprisingly versatile and can be dressed up or down.

Invest in a camel cardigan and you won’t be disappointed. This wardrobe staple goes with any outfit—it’s perfect for Katie’s weekend looks.
Ann Taylor draped cardigan, $79, available at anntaylor.com.
7. The Printed Blouse
The blouson top looks great with a dark bottom such as black pants or jeans, but you can also rock it with white jeans. I say yes to white jeans after Labor Day, and you should too.
Michael Kors blouson top, $89.50, available at nordstrom.com.
8. The Pendant Necklace
Wearing this pendant necklace is an effortless way to add color and bling to your outfit, whether it’s for work or a night on the town. And I love the vintage feel of this piece.
