It’s less than five days out from Mother’s Day, and you still haven’t found the perfect gift for mom. Full disclosure: I haven’t either. And I don’t want to wait until the end of the week when I’m either shopping in a panic or overpaying for flowers that I could have bought for much less a few days earlier.
So here’s what we’re going to do.
First: Breathe. Although many of us may suspect mom has returned one of our gifts in the past, most moms haven’t. According to a recent survey from RetailMeNot, nearly three-quarters of moms have never used the gift receipt. It’s also nice to know that if you’re strapped for cash many moms would prefer your time to you spending a dime. PriceGrabber asked moms what they really wanted for Mother’s Day this year, and nearly half said quality time with the family.
Second: Get strategic. If you would like to get mom a little something extra, follow my lead and pick something from the cheat sheet of great Mother’s Day deals below. (And just in case my own kids happen to be reading, the first item on the list would work especially well for me!)
SpaWish. Give mom some much-needed R&R with a spa day. On Groupon you can get a $50 SpaWish gift card for $35. The card can be used for spa services at more than 7,000 spas and salons across the country. But first, go to SpaWish’s site and look up her local salons that accept the card. If that doesn’t pan out, then do a search of her local spas to see if they’re running any Mother’s Day-related specials (chances are they will be). For example, if you live in NYC, these local spas are offering deals.
Shari’s Berries. Can you say yum? Shari’s (known for their gourmet chocolate-covered strawberries) is offering a few different Mother’s Day packages. Some start as low as $19.99. For example, you can really celebrate mom (and her senses) with the “Two Days Just for Mom” deal ($35.98). On day one she’ll receive a dozen roses, and on day two she’ll receive six gourmet chocolate-covered strawberries. Right now there’s a 10% discount on all gift orders.
ProFlowers. For the late bloomers, ProFlowers is offering 15 percent off on any last-minute orders. You can send mom a dozen rainbow roses (with chocolates!) for $19.99.
Cheryl’s. Cheryl’s is offering reduced prices on all of its Mother’s Day cookie treats, including the very cute, Daisy Cookie Flower Pot, starting at $36.99.
World Market. If mom loves her Merlot, then check out this beautiful wine decanter from World Market. Use this code at checkout to get it for $17.99. In fact, if you head over to the World Market site, they have an entire page dedicated to (on-sale) gifts for mom.
Happy Mother's Day!
