DEMO Awards Ceremony |
The start-up world may be dominated by 20-somethings—but if you’re a Boomer in the tech space (or a techie in the Boomer space), you could get a chance to pitch your plan or product to more than 200 venture capitalists and reporters.
AARP is launching [email protected]+, a program to give two entrepreneurs scholarships to DEMO, the Silicon Valley tech conference that’s launched the likes of Java, Symantec and TiVo.
[email protected]+ is the first (and only) DEMO scholarship to focus on the over-50 crowd.
“People over 50 have an advantage because they have experience and knowledge,” says Jody Holtzman, Senior VP of Thought Leadership at AARP. “The investment community should keep an eye out.”
![]() | Over 50? You’re automatically eligible for the AARP scholarship if you meet DEMO’s other eligibility requirements. |
![]() | Under 50? Your idea has to be for a product or service geared toward the wants and needs of people over 50. |
Applications are due July 14, and AARP will contact winners by late August. DEMO takes place September 12–14. The prize covers your $18,600 DEMO entry fee, but you pay for travel and accommodations.
Wind up & pitch. Do you have a product you’d like to bring to market?
